Cost of electricity: ₹7.5/unit

Cost of Petrol: ₹100/L

Cost of Diesel: ₹90/L

Average distance that a 2W travels in 1 year: 10,000 km

Average distance that a 4W travels in 1 year: 20,000 km

4W considered: TATA Nexon (Petrol, Diesel, and Electric)

2Ws considered: Honda Activa and Ola S1

4W COMPARISON: ICE VS EV

This graph shows how much cumulative money a person will spend on fuel/charging. We can see that the total cost of charging an EV is almost 10x less than the total cost of petrol/diesel.

This graph shows how much total money a person will spend cumulatively (cost of vehicle plus cost of fuel/charging) and highlights that although the initial price of an electric vehicle (EV) is 50% more than its petrol and diesel counterparts, a person spends 10 times more money on fuel for a petrol or diesel vehicle over the same period. After 4-5 years, the total money spent on all three alternatives—petrol, diesel, and electric—is similar. After that, a person can save thousands of rupees by simply owning an EV, as evidenced by the graph.

This graph shows how much cumulative money a person will spend on fuel/charging. We can see that the total cost of charging an electric scooter is more than 10x less than the total cost of petrol.
